Adobe Search And Promote

Every business customer wants their site visitors to find relevant content quickly on their site and compare the products they are looking for. With Adobe Search&Promote capability, you can suggest merchandise and offer related content to customers based on the search terms and pages they’ve visited.

Search & Promote is now part of Adobe Target and has its own benefits compared to other search engines. It is cloud enterprise-class and available as SAAS – Software As A Service. No code deployment is required for any changes in search functionality since it is a standalone service residing on the cloud. It has its own console where all the search functionalities can be configured and managed. Some of the highlights of S&P are described below.

Highlights of Search & Promote features Result Ranking
When the number of search results is growing, the order of results plays a very significant role. Search and Promote provides an easy way to handle such use cases by ranking the results. The following are the properties to be set.
1. Relevancy – A relevancy from 1-10 can be set to each search attribute/property. ex: -title/desc/price
2. Ranking Rules – Used for relative positioning or ranking of a customer’s search results based on contained meta tag content and related Adobe Analytics metrics.
3. Search By Default – When configured, the specified field content is searched first (ex:- DESC) and then sorts the results accordingly.

Facets
  • Facets help to improve the search experience. Often, customers are unsure of what they want and may want to explore several options before deciding. Facets simplify the user experience by letting users investigate several choices quickly and efficiently.
  • For example, suppose a visitor to a website, that sells tools, performs a search for wrenches. The company could use two facets: one to specify all the brands of wrenches that were found, and the second one to specify all the wrench sizes. The customer can click on any brand or size within the appropriate facet to narrow the results and quickly find the correct wrench they need.
  • Search & Promote provides Faceting which is easy to integrate with CMS with a little bit of configuration. Click Here for the documentation from Adobe.
Dynamic Facets
  • S&P Dynamic Facets are useful when there is a large number of properties for each product. Dynamic Facets are Product’s attributes/properties that are sparsely populated across your website and only appear for a subset of searches.
  • For example, when searching for shoes or boots, a facet named “ski-boot-flex” may only be populated. Whereas when searching for Screws, another facet named “Screw Sizes”- with possible values of “large”, “medium” and “small”, may only appear.
  • Example of dynamic facets that are displayed after a search for “boots”:

If your account has a large number of such facets, it enhances search performance to use dynamic facets instead of always selecting the entire set of possible facets for every search.

Auto Complete:
When the S&P Auto Complete feature is enabled, a pre-populated list of search values will be generated as and when the user types a keyword. This enables them to quickly find and select the results.
In Search & Promote, you can configure various attributes of Auto-Complete to control or manage the generation of the pre-populated suggestions list.

Pre-Search & Post-Search Rules
  • In Search & Promote for each search query, we can set up rules. These rules analyze the incoming query and determine the action items to be executed.
  • This is also applicable to outgoing results. For example, if a search has zero results, a Post-Search Rule can perform a search with a different keyword. We can also write rules to display a web page to customers that recommend other items.
Dictionaries
  • Dictionaries on Search & Promote are useful to manage a collection of dictionaries that are associated with synonyms and hyponyms.
  • Hyponyms are one-way synonyms and provide a solution when synonyms would be inappropriate.
  • Synonyms and Hyponyms help customers to find relevant search results when they enter non-exact matching terms that do not exist on the web pages. For example, if the word “pants” is used throughout your website, you can create a synonym that binds “pants” and “trousers” together. In turn, when customers search for “trousers,” search results are returned that are related to pants.
  • Search and Promote provides a large number of Dictionary categories by default. As per the requirement of the project, dictionary categories can be enabled on S&P.
